We drove up to Vegas for Collin's birthday party. The theme was Winnie the Pooh. We played outside games such as red light green light, photo booth, obstacles, hide and seek games, etc. The cake was gorgeous like always. Melanie always makes fabulous cakes. We had a lot of fun being with family. We also listened to conference while there. General Conference was absolutely fabulous this year. I think the theme was keeping the Sabbath day holy, supporting our leaders, and strengthening our families through scripture study, prayer, and Sunday observance. We learned a new word called, "ponderize" It's focus on one scripture for the week and 80% pondering and 20% memorization. We are trying to work on a scripture a week as a family. We went to a pumpkin patch during the Priesthood conference. We got a lot of cute pics and the kids got to go on some fun rides and slides, etc. Steve and I left Monday morning with Jessica. We got off the freeway to get gas and while turning left into the gas station the person in the far right line blocked the entrance so I had to stop in the lane of oncoming traffic and we were hit in-between the front and side passenger doors. We only had to a $500 deductible to get it fixed, but the repairs cost well over $5,000 and we were without a van for most of the month.
We flew to Texas for our fall break. We met up with Kayla and her kids as well. The first day we went to the cutest pumpkin patch in Flower Mound. They had bounce houses, slides, tons of pumpkins, and every character you can think of to take a picture with. The best part was a huge hay pile. We climbed and jumped off of that for at least 30 minutes. Camille, Kayla and I even tried. It was so much fun to be with my sisters and all of our kids. The kids had so much fun together.
The next day we went to the Texas State Fair. We got there just as it opened up and we stayed until after the evening parade. We spent the whole day there! It was so much fun. We watched a few different shows, our kids got to participate in a little kid rodeo with stick horses. Rachel and Landon got to pony ride and Andrea and Leah got to barrel race. It was super cute. We saw huge bulls, and horses. They shows were fantastic. They had an African Acrobats show that was outside. It was really cool. After it was over Andrea and Leah did their acrobats, "cartwheels" up and down the stairs and all over. Jessica, Rachel, and Landon did their acrobats, "somersaults" on the grass. We saw another show with singing, dancing, and a lot of horse riding and even a BMX show that was really incredible.
We finished off the trip with a trip to a BBQ restaurant, lip sync battle which Camille and William rocked at, jumping on the tramp, attempting to swim in the cold pool, and celebrating Kennedy's birthday. I sang, "How does she know" from Enchanted, this super sweet Disney like song then Camille got up there and sang song intense rock song and took down the house. It was hilarious. We also went to a park and took the kids to see the movie Pixel. Camille made absolutely delicious food on Sunday and a beautiful cake for Kennedy. We had so much fun and we were so glad that Southwest had such low fares to make it possible for us to take the trip.
The girls got really involved in soccer. It was really simple, but they really liked it. They especially liked being on Sadie's team. We kept having to tell Andrea and Sadie to go easy on the young kids, because they were by far the oldest.
My cousin Keane got married to McKenzie here in Arizona, so we got to have Kelsey, Josh, McKade, Cowen, and Tyce, Shane, Whitney, and London stay at our house. I was able to go to the bridal shower the night before with Kelsey and Whitney. It was actually really fun. The wedding day was absolutely gorgeous. The sealing room in the Gilbert Temple was beautiful and mother-in-law came and watched all 7 of our kids so we could all go to the sealing. It was so sweet of her. Then we went to Tia Rosas for lunch. Andrea and McKade held hands for most of the day and went everywhere together. Rachel and Cowen had a lot fun together too. I ran over to help Tammie and Shawn move for an hour and then we headed back over to the reception. It was outside with a little dance floor. Steve was able to join me during the day, but he was gone that evening for scout stuff, so I took all the girls by myself, which was a huge challenge. They were all so tired that I ended up holding most of them at the same time. Then Josh helped me hold one and so did Uncle Carl. It was at that moment that I realized that I don't always get to play, dance, and party like I want to now. I am a mother now and that is most important. I taught the Thriller Dance the next morning and then we said goodbye to all the Kloepfer family and helped Tammie and Shawn move until late that night. It was a big weekend.
Matt and Melanie came into town over Halloween to go house shopping. It was fun to have them here for Halloween. Our neighborhood is pretty cool for Halloween. They set up tables and chairs in their driveways and feed their friends chilli and yummy food. We ate at Frank and Pat's and at Cori and Matt's. We were going to go back to The Gardens and trick or treat, but we had so much fun at our neighborhood that we just stayed here.
