January 2016

This month was a big month for Jessica. She started potty training on Tuesday January 19th. She's doing well. Pretty awesome for only being 20 months old. She hasn't had any accidents at church. She took herself potty on Friday night when I had a dozen kids at the house for co-op so Inwas helping others at the time. She pooped in her little toilet and dumped it all by herself. I was so proud of her. She still has at least one accident a day, but she's starting to tell us when she needs to go potty. She completely filled her sticker charge by the end of 2 weeks, so we had ice cream to celebrate.

Rachel had an exciting month as well. She got to start going to open gym at the USA gym. She was so excited! She ran everywhere and did a cherry drop off of the bars over and over. That's where a person hangs from their knees and flips off looking like they are doing a back flip.

Andrea is doing fantastic at gymnastics. Her teacher can't believe how perfect her form is in her handstand on the bar. Andrea was also able to hold her legs in the pike position on the little dumbbell things for 50 seconds. Her teacher said that is better than the girls on team.

On Saturday I took the girls to the Queen Creek Wash Trail in Queen Creek. We loaded the bikes up and rode a totally of almost 4 miles. We brought lunch and ate it at a park along the trail. We also brought Jessica's little potty, so she would go potty. It worked. She didn't have an accident at all. After she peed a little I just dumped it on a bush. Just like a dog would do. 😀. I got the idea from a mom who was at exercise group.  We had a lot of fun and stopped by to see the Curtis family on our way home.

Rachel had a super fun 4th birthday party with a lot of friends.  We played red light/green light and had a pinata and cake and ice cream and tons of presents.  She wanted a my little pony birthday party, so daddy made her an awesome rainbow dash birthday cake.

Mom and dad went to the Keg to celebrate mom's 29th birthday.  Daddy also got mom a new knife set.  We made the most delicious chocolate peanut butter pretzels and Andrea wrote the sweetest note to her daddy telling him that she wished he was done with scouts so she could spend time with him.

We went to Vegas for Colette's birthday party and had a lot of fun at a new park there.  The park had this cool thing to climb on that we called chips because they looked like potato chips.  The girls climbed all the way to the top.  On our way home from Vegas we only had Jessica in our car.  It was raining and we were trying to turn left into a gas station.  There were two lanes of oncoming traffic but the far lane was backed up with people waiting to get onto the freeway.  The car in front of me was able to turn into the gas station so Steve said, "go, go." and I tried to turn and the car in the far lane pulled forward and blocked the entrance so I had to stop the other lane of oncoming traffic.  There was a car coming who didn't push on her brakes until it was too late and because she was on a hill and it was raining she ended up sliding into us.  She smashed right in between both the passenger door in the front and the sliding door, so both doors had to be completely replaced.  Thank goodness Jessica was on the other side and she wasn't going very fast by the time that she hit us.  We consider ourselves very lucky and now we are much more cautious when turning left.

Highlights from this month.

* All of the girls were cleaning bathrooms with mommy when Rachel said, "Mom, I love cleaning toilets.  Maybe when I grow up I could be a toilet cleaner."  Mom said, "If you grow up and become a mom, then you will be a toilet cleaner."  Rachel, "Yay, I'll be a mom toilet cleaner when I grow up!"

* Andrea pushes Jessica so high on the swing and even does under dog pushes.  It's crazy and terrifying, but Jessica never falls out.  She has a tight grip.

* Rachel is officially a sunbeam now.

*We made nice new chore charts with pictures.

* We had a dance party in the girls' room with glow sticks and the lights off.

* Mike, Ashely, Zoey, and Shiloh came over.  They love Jessica and her facial expressions and personality.  She is very mature for her age.

* The girls woke mom up on her birthday and said, "Is it someones birthday?" Then they sang to her.

* Rachel gave her first talk in primary about the brother of Jared.  Jessica is fantastic in nursery.

* Andrea had a big discipline and had to go to bed directly after dinner.  Rachel has 3 articles of faith memorized!

* Jessica got another tooth on the bottom.  Her 3rd front tooth.  Andrea did chores without complaining.

* Jessica says, "Thank mom." To say "Thank you mom."

* We had our first dance class at the house on January 14th.  It went really really well, but it was huge!!!

* Jessica is not nice to Collin.  She pushes and takes toys.

* Rachel bought 2 frogs with her money.  Andrea bought a frg and 2 fish with her money.

* The girls love babysitting co-op.  We trade with the Bentelys, Fishers, and another family.

* Jessica said a whole sentence, "Mommy I want more orange."
